“Maybe it’s my fault.
Maybe I led you to believe it was easy when it wasn’t.
Maybe I made you think my highlights started at the free throw line … and not in the gym.
Maybe I made you think that every shot I took, was a game winner. That my game was built on flash, and not fire.
Maybe it’s my fault that you didn’t see that failure gave me strength. That my pain, was my motivation.
Maybe I led you to believe that basketball was a God-given gift, and not something I worked for … every single day of my life.
Maybe I destroyed the game, or maybe … you’re just making excuses.” – Michael Jordan
When a brand is built on this, you understand why despite his retirement over a decade ago – his shoes and clothing line are still as popular as ever. He is legendary. Every phrase expertly crafted and delivered to help people understand that 6 championships, 5 regular season MVP awards and numerous other accolades weren’t given to him. He had to fight for it.
He had to put in hours and hours and hours of work that nobody else saw in order to rise above the rest. And now? The man that defined greatness in basketball now has extended his brand across generations, grossing over half a million a year. That’s the ultimate hustle.
It’s hard to imagine one man’s athletic ability, drive and determination evolving into what is now known as brand Jordan – but it’s precisely how greatness is created and is the reason why despite his retiring from the game, his brand will always exist.
- probably the most motivating words i’ve read.
off to go gain more moves.
“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
keep this in mind everytime i do lose. today was a hard loss though. put in more hardwork tomorrow.
